The project was launched at the monthly Coffee Morning at the Osgodby Village Institute on 3 March 2018 after having had to keep the success of being awarded 49,500 “under wraps” for a couple of weeks.

The day got off to a good start at 7 20 am when Shirley was interviewed in the comfort of her home by telephone by Julia Lewis on Radio BBC York. The radio continued to give us mention throughout the morning – even on the news headlines. During the previous week we had issued press releases and local papers had also taken up our story.

Trdisplay was showing initial research which had been undertaken to get us where we are at in March 2018. It was great to see people interested in finding out about it, and handing out the first “leaflet” about the project We were giving away free cupcakes to people who brought along a used lottery ticket – a crowd pleaser.

It was great to see volunteer members of the group come along and chat with people coming along to the coffee morning.

Brilliant start! Now the work began!
