On Tuesday 8 July 2025, a sunny and hot afternoon, 17 members/guest visited Skipwith. In October 2023, Janet Patrick was our guest monthly speaker and spoke to us about Skipwith Church. Members suggested our summer outing for 2024 was a visit to Skipwith Church.
We had a very interesting tour of the Church to see for ourselves the interesting features Janet had spoken about previously. This was followed by scrumptious homemade cakes and scones, and a refreshing cup of tea/coffee (with ample refills!).
Thank you to Janet and her colleagues for their warm hospitality.
We then ventured across the road and met-up with Jon Kenny, Community Archaeologist who told us about the latest archaeological dig “The Skipwith Gateway Project”. People were able to visit the three trenches which were in the process of being excavated.
A very enjoyable afternoon had by all.
