Aerial photographs from the North Yorkshire Archive Services have been used to identify areas which may be of interest for future archaeology work. Jan Mitchell undertook an archaeological desk based assessment, and this was shared with the North Yorkshire County Council Archaeologist. Mark Simpson, Building Archaeologist, is exploring four buildings we have identified in the village.
Aerial Photography Workshop

An Aerial Photography workshop was held on 12 August 2018 led by Jon Kenny, Community Archaeologist and Tony Hunt, Yorkshire Archaeological Mapping. The day, attended by about 28 people, covered all aspects of aerial archaeology, including taking photographs , crops marks etc ., and other scientific methods of looking at archaeology from the sky. In particular, the workshop looked at the role of drones, and a demonstration was given at the end of the workshop, with drones flying over the village and surrounding fields.
